Qualsiasi appassionato ascoltatore di rock progressivo italiano conosce bene il nome Locanda delle Fate, in particolare per il loro capolavoro del 1977 "Forse le lucciole non si amano più". Tra i principali compositori della band piemontese e di quel suo inarrivabile LP vi fu un allora giovanissimo Michele Conta, studente di pianoforte presso il conservatorio di Alessandria.

La Locanda delle Fate si sciolse nel giro di pochi anni - per poi riformarsi più volte nei decenni successivi - e da quel momento i percorsi artistici di Michele e degli altri musicisti non si incrociarono più. "Endless Nights" è quindi il primo album contenente sue composizioni originali dalla fine dell'esperienza con la Locanda nei primi anni '80. Un lavoro dalla gestazione molto lunga, che ha però lasciato all'autore il tempo e la libertà necessari per curare tutto nei dettagli, in particolare la scelta dei collaboratori e degli studi di registrazione: tra i primi spicca fra tutti Gavin Harrison alla batteria, mentre fra i secondi regnano incontrastati i leggendari Abbey Road!

In "Endless Nights" si rispecchiano i cambiamenti repentini degli ultimi 40-50 anni, e i sei brani medio-lunghi che lo compongono sono frutto dell'incontro tra la sensibilità e l'eleganza di un artista che ha vissuto in prima persona l'età d'oro del progressive rock e la modernità e l'immediatezza del rock e delle produzioni moderne; un disco che nasce quindi da un contrasto, e che perciò sorprende per quanto sia equilibrato e riflessivo.

Any Italian progressive rock passionate listener knows Locanda delle Fate very well, especially for their 1977 masterpiece "Forse le lucciole non si amano più". Among the main songwriters of the band and of their unmatched first LP there was a then very young Michele Conta, a piano student at the conservatory of Alessandria.

Locanda delle Fate folded within a few years - and then reformed several times in the following decades - and, from that moment on, the artistic paths of Michele and the other musicians never crossed again. "Endless Nights" is therefore the first album containing Michele's original compositions since the end of the experience Locanda delle Fate in the early '80s. It took a very long time to complete this album but, on the other hand, its author had all the time and freedom necessary to take care of everything in detail, especially the choice of his collaborators and the recording studios: among the first we have Gavin Harrison on drums, while the legendary Abbey Road reign supreme amidst the latter!

"Endless Nights" reflects the sudden changes of the last 40-50 years, and its six tracks are the result of the encounter between the sensitivity and the elegance of an artist who personally experienced the golden age of prog-rock and the modernity and immediacy of rock and modern music productions; a record that is therefore born of a strong contrast, and consequently surprisingly balanced and thoughtful.
